AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Parent Drop-Off:  2:30pm

Evening Pick-Up:  6:00pm

About the Program

Pick-Up.  For elementary schools within our zone, we pick-up students after school and bring them to USMA.

Drop-Off.  For work-at-home parents who still need after school supervision for their children, our drop-off program allows parents to bring their child to USMA at 3:00pm and fully participate in our program.

Our drop-off program would also apply to students outside of our pick-up zone, if parents are able to drop them off at USMA by 3:00pm.

Evening pick-up is 6:00pm

We also pick up students on 2-hour early release days.  On Anne Arundel County Public School closings (eg. professional development, marking period breaks) we may be open, depending on the needs of our families.  We close on major holidays; spring and winter break.

Beyond Daycare

We don't just baby sit.  Students receive homework help, have access to hi-speed internet and Chromebooks, and are given supplemental age-appropriate work as needed.

Free play is structured by day - Cards Day, Board Games Day, Building Day, Lego Day, etc.

We encourage art projects to develop creativity and thinking skills, while student-led projects offer leadership opportunities for older students.  Celebrating holidays are the perfect time for such projects - student created games, arts and crafts, and contests.

Daily Schedule

After picking up students from nearby elementary schools or after parent drop-offs, students have time for a quick parent-provided snack and games.  By 3:30pm they'll start their martial arts training or homework. All students have a 45-60 minute martial arts class twice a week and a sparring class on Friday

On Fun Fridays we also have time for group games before sparring practice.

What to Expect

Our staff are adults, martial arts practitioners and most are parents.  We have many years working with children, enjoy helping them, and want to see them succeed.  Our number one priority is to provide a safe, supportive environment where everyone will learn and grow.

We also want to expose children to things they might not have time for in school -- logic games, puzzles of all sorts.  Learning disguised as games is a fun way to challenge their brains.
